Arsenal defender Pablo Mari is hospitalized after getting stabbed in Milan

According to reports, Pablo Mari was hospitalized after being stabbed in a Milan shopping mall. He was one of five persons stabbed, according to Rai news, by a 46-year-old guy. Three of the five people who were stabbed are reportedly in critical condition.

At 17:30 UK time, the incident took place in the Carrefour supermarket at the Milanofiori di Assago shopping center (18:30 local time). According to reports, the assailant began randomly stabbing customers in the store after taking a knife from the shelf.

Witnesses boldly stepped in to stop the attacker, who was later detained and apprehended by the police. An eye witness said to the press “We were at the bar and we thought it was a robbery because we saw some boys and a lady running, then we saw more and more people with upset faces and we realised that something serious had happened.”

“I know that Edu (Arsenal’s sporting director) is in contact with his relatives, he seems to be doing well,” manager Mikel Arteta stated to the reporters. According to numerous sources in Italy, the 46-year-old guy who attacked Mari and the other five victims pulled a knife from the shelves and hurt those shopping nearby.

Monza CEO Adriano Galliani also said: “Pablo Mari is not in danger as his injuries are not life-threatening. We hope to see him back soon.” Although Pablo Mari may have found it difficult to win Mikel Arteta over, the center-back still praises his countryman as a rising manager.

Mari, who joined Arsenal from Flamengo in Brazil as Edu’s first signing of the Arteta era, says he had a good time when he was there even if he only made 22 appearances over the course of two and a half years.
