Joan Laporta, The President of Football Club Barcelona, has recently scored four goals in a 7v7 Kings League against the Brazilians. Kings League is a 7-a-side football tournament, which is co-founded by former Barcelona and Spain Defender Gerard Pique and the famous Spanish Internet celebrity Ibai Llanos.

Kings League commenced on January 1 and is scheduled to end on March 26. Kings League is currently being held in Cupra Arena, located in the port of Barcelona. This league consists of 12 teams. Each team has a marquee, usually a former professional footballer. The teams also have a 12th player which is a guest player that can change with each matchday.

Players like Casillas, Ronaldinho, and Aguero are some who have already featured in this tournament, with Joan Laporta being one of the big names. Seems like Pique’s brainchild is catching up with the eyes of the audience. Over 100 broadcasted the events, and it has a viewership of 2.16 million HW.

The 58-year-old Barcelona president Joan Laporta was invited to an interview by the former La Roja and Barcelona defender. In it, both Laporta and Pique took it to the audience that the Semifinals, the match for third place and the finals, will all be held at the home ground of Barcelona, Sportify Camp Nou. According to the reports, this could result in a record attendance of 90,000 spectators.

The 2-times President then went on to take a cheeky dig at the La Liga chief, he said ” This is not a circus, this is a new form of entertainment.” Laporta went on to say that soccer is losing its audience and so he celebrates this new way of attracting viewers.

Kings League has met with some scepticism in recent times amongst the soccer community. Although Chief Tebas called it a “Circus”, it seems the competition is only growing.

Despite Pique’s current domestic turmoils, the success of the Kings’ League has been one of the most positive things in the ex-defender’s life. Earlier this year, Kosmos Holdings, Pique’s event management firm lost one of its biggest clients in the form of the Davies Cup.
