The Director General of BBC, Tim Davie recently spoke about his company’s views on Gary Lineker. In a recent interview, Director General Davie showed his fondness and the confidence he has for the Ex Barcelona-striker Gary Linekar, in the role of a broadcaster, as per reports.

Gary Lineker has been the point of talk in the world of football for the past few weeks. The reason for this is the comment he made on social media Lineker. The Match of The Day host, 62, Garry criticized the government’s Illegal Migration Bill. He said, the bill to “immeasurably cruel” and compared language used to announce it as “not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s.”

This action of Lineker wasn’t taken pleasantly by the esteemed corporation. The Corporation stated, “We have said that we consider his recent social media activity to be a breach of our guidelines.” The Corporation went on to say that the BBC had decided that Lineker would have to step back from presenting Match of the Day until they get an agreed and clear position on his use of social media.

This wasn’t the end of the matter though as many of Lineker like Ian Wright, Allan Shearer, and quite a few other football pundits have reportedly started to boycott the Match of the Day program, for showing solidarity with Lineker. Ian Wright said, “Everybody knows what Match of the Day means to me. But I’ve told the BBC I won’t be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity.” Allan Shearer too reportedly responded. He said, “I have informed the BBC that I won’t be appearing on MOTD tomorrow night.”

Now It seems that BBC is planning to bring back Gary Lineker to the anchor’s seat in the show. Especially after the channel is reportedly receiving so much hate from both Football stars and fans after their treatment with Lineker. The Director General reportedly in an interview said, “Gary Lineker is the ‘best sports broadcaster in the world’. And the corporation wants him back on air.”

This by far has been quite some saga between the Former English striker Gary Lineker and BBC. It is still left to be seen if Lineker’s case was only until here and he goes back to his day job again with the reports suggesting that the corporation might come calling for the striker soon. Or will this take a twist or two more?

UK PM Rishi Sunak reportedly smudges off any rumors of government’s involvement in ‘BBC Vs Lineker’ issue

Rishi sunak

The Prime Minister of England, Rishi Sunak reportedly said on Saturday that a row between the BBC and football presenter Gary Lineker over his criticism of government policy in a tweet was a matter for the broadcaster, not the government.

The Prime Minister reportedly gave a statement on this matter. Rishi Sunak said, “I hope that the current situation between Gary Lineker and the BBC can be resolved in a timely manner. But it is rightly a matter for them, not the government.”

Many were thinking, BBC forced Lineker from MOTD, under the influence of the government. However, it seems, the British PM Sunak offered this reported statement to clarify to the public that his government has nothing to do with this matter after all.

Although Lineker was forced out of the show after his comments against a Government policy, the government’s direct involvement, in this case, is yet to be proven. But it needs to be seen if this was just between the BBC and Lineker. Or was the government involved in this after all?
