“Being a manager is harder than being a journalist”- Spain National team manager hits out at the press for giving unnecessary squad selection suggestions
Luis Enrique looks dejected after the loss against Switzerland.
Spain national team hasn’t looked convincing on the pitch in the ongoing Nations League and fans are starting to get reckless and impatient with the journalists posing tough questions for Luis Enrique after the match against Switzerland. Luis Enrique’s tactics were questioned after the loss last night and with the world cup just two months away, fans expect their manager to come with up a plan as quickly as possible.
The loss against Switzerland proved costly as they will have to face table-toppers Portugal who is on 10 points in a do-or-die match. He was devastated after the match saying, “the worse I can remember since I’ve been coaching this team. I sent the wrong message after the game on Saturday. I’ve seen the first half again and it wasn’t that bad. We lacked precision in the last third, close to their area. That is where we were imprecise, not back in defense.”
Will Spain national team come up with a plan against the table-toppers Portugal?
Spain national team will face Portugal at the last and final match of the group stage at the Nations League will all to play for. Spain needs a win to qualify for the semi-finals while Portugal is just a point away from booking their place in the semis. Enrique also said that Portugal has a splendid squad and their team has better players than them in terms of quality.
Enrique said, “We will face it like a final, there is no other way. Only a victory is worth (everything to) us. It’s a final and throughout a career, you don’t play many, even less with your national team. Our best players will play, there will be no tests or rotations. We don’t speculate in Spain and on Tuesday we will play to win. Period.”
