The Premier League is regarded as one of the best leagues in the world. Players dream of joining teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and other English giants with the dream of playing among the best. In the current market, England is regarded as the best destination, with even mid-table teams signing stars from other leagues.
But, Brazilian legend, Cafu sees a negative side to this English migration. He claims that if more of his countrymen join the PL, the country will struggle in World Cups. Brazil has won 5 World Cups, with their latest coming in 2002. Since then they have failed to even reach the finals, with their best performance coming in 2014. They managed to reach the semi-finals but were battered 7-1 by eventual winners Germany. They finished 4th in that World Cup.
Cafu told journalist Ibrahim Sannie Daara that if players keep moving to England, Brazil’s chances of winning the World Cup will reduce. He further added that players are brainwashed by the media into believing the Premier League is the best in the world.
I am afraid, the more we have Brazilians moving to the Premier League, the fewer chances for Brazil to win the World Cup.Cafu told Ibrahim Sannie Daara
The World Cup champion said he prefers Spain’s La Liga, where players have the mentality to reach finals and win. He believes the media in the country aren’t loud like England’s, where they only speak football.
In La Liga, they don't have a mouth in front of TV cameras telling lies about Spanish players or hyping them to the world. They speak football there, not myth
