Chelsea signing Mykhailo Mudryk has already broken a Premier League record after playing just a single game in England. The Ukrainian footballer made his debut against English giants Liverpool FC earlier this week. In his spectacular cameo that lasted only for 35 minutes, Mudryk became the fastest Premier League player of the 2022-23 season.

According to reports from SportBible, the former Shakhtar Donetsk attacker registered a top speed of 36.63 km/h during his first game against the Merseyside club. Chelsea manager Graham Potter brought on Mykhailo Mudryk in the 55th minute of the game. His stunning speed and dribbling skills forced many fans to compare the new signing to their club legend Eden Hazard.

Mykhailo Mudryk defeated Everton’s, Anthony Gordon, who registered a top speed of 36.61 km/h. Graham Potter acknowledged the impact Mydryk had on the game after a goalless draw between Chelsea and Liverpool at Anfield. “He’s not played football for a while, he’s been on a mid-season break, so we had to manage his minutes. But I think you could see his quality, he had a good impact on the game,” Potter exclaimed.

Chelsea owner and American businessman Todd Boehly is on a spending spree. The Blues brought in Mykhailo Mudryk in a deal worth £89 million from Shakhtar Donetsk. The London-based club has been desperate for a creative ball-carrying attacker after they let go to fill the boots of their former star player Eden Hazard.

Mudryk has been explosive for Shaktar this season in the Champions League. He has attempted 34 dribbles from the left wing, and taken 9 attempts at goal. Mudryk has scored 3 goals in the 6 UCL matches. These stats show that despite being young and raw, Mudryk has shown glimpses of his undoubted talent in the biggest stage. The 22-year-old would feel like a refreshing breeze amidst Chelsea’s creative woes.

Things have been changing at Stamford Bridge since Boehly took over the reins. Chelsea has signed over 14 different players, spending over $600 million in the last year.

Chelsea has signed players like Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Christopher Nkunku, Cucurella, Koulibaly, Felix, and so on. Though, they also offloaded players like Rudiger, Timo Werner, Christensen, Saul, and more. The London club is entering a new era with a fresh squad, after most of the players who were a part of Chelsea’s 2020:21 UCL winning team have left the club.

Graham Potter’s men will be facing 7th placed Fulham on 4th February 2023 in an exciting Premier League clash. Chelsea would be looking to seize all three points after their disappointing domestic run. They will also be facing German giants BVB Dortmund in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. How far do you think Chelsea could go in the Champions League with this fresh squad?
