Cristiano Ronaldo was once again reminded by the whole fans of his archrival Lionel Messi as Al-Hilal took on Al-Nassr. The Saudi ‘giants’ faced off on Friday, as Al-Hilal fans tried their best to ‘intimidate’ and ‘anger’ the Portuguese superstar. ‘Messi’ chants were serenaded by the home crowd throughout the game, and especially when Ronaldo was heading into the tunnel. But it was CR7’s ‘blown kisses’ in response to this, that has gone viral.

Al-Nassr were dealt a significant blow in their race to the top in the Saudi Pro League on Friday. A 3-0 loss against the Blue Waves means that first (Al-Hilal) and second (Al-Nassr) are separated by a 7-point gap. The former has managed to accumulate 41 points from a possible 45, while Al-Nassr have 34 points in an equal number of games.

Even though the visitors fell 3-0 at the King Fahd International Stadium, moments shared between Ronaldo and the home fans have gone viral. Ronaldo responded in style, as he looked up at the chanting crowd with a wide smile on his face. He then proceeded to ‘shower’ the opposition fans with ‘flying kisses’ in all directions.

His response has then gone viral, with many commenting on the exceptional manner in which Ronaldo handled the situation. Fans chanted Lionel Messi’s name throughout the 90 minutes.

Ronaldo silenced as Al-Nassr suffered first defeat in last 10 games

The Knights of Najd fell to the power of Al-Hilal who were on the pitch without star man Neymar Jr. An Aleksandar Mitrovic brace and a goal from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic were enough for the home side to taste victory against Cristiano Ronaldo’s side. The Al-Nassr #7 had a rather muted performance, managing just 3 shots throughout the game, with 2 being on target.

The visitors were visibly pushed back into their half as Al-Hilal wasted no time getting to work. Al-Nassr were let off the hook several times in the starting 10 minutes, with Mitrovic and Salem Al-Dawsari driving their shots wide. The away side played themselves into trouble as Mitrovic stole the ball from an Al-Nassr defender before Al-Dawsari’s shot luckily fell into the hands of Nawaf Al-Aqidi.

The second half featured an Al-Hilal onslaught, as Milinkovic-Savic’s glancing header added fuel to an electric atmosphere. Subsequently, Aleksandar Mitrovic followed up with an immaculate brace, to which the visitors had no reply. A near-post header and an injury-time finish to kill the game proved lethal to the visitors. Cristiano Ronaldo’s sublime volley was ruled offside by the referee following a VAR check. Al-Nassr now face Istiklol in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday.
