Cristiano Ronaldo in action for Portugal

It has been five days since Piers Morgan released his much-anticipated interview with Cristiano Ronaldo. During his conversation with the British journalist, Ronaldo slammed his current club Manchester United. The Portuguese star mentioned that he felt disrespected at the club and took a dig at United boss Erik ten Hag. Since the interview aired, Ronaldo has been the subject of criticism from football fans.

Many believed that Ronaldo’s lack of playing time in the current season led to his comments against United and the top bosses at the club. However, Ronaldo’s supporters defended the player by citing the condition at United. Regardless of what forced Ronaldo’s comments, the fact that he has not had the best seasons does not change. Ronaldo spent more time on the bench compared to the pitch under Ten Hag. As a result, he has not been able to play to the best of his abilities, and against Ghana, he will look to prove his worth.

Portugal at the World Cup has one of the most balanced teams. Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Diego Jota will ensure the goals keep flowing for the European side, whereas, Reuben Dias, Antonio Silva, and Diego Dalot will take care of the defense. The 2016 Euro Champions have won six, lost three, and drawn one game in the last ten they have played. With their latest victory coming against Nigeria, Portugal will look to continue their African domination against Ghana.

Ghana, on the other hand, is probably the best African team at the tournament. Since they finished first in the World Cup qualifiers, football fans have huge expectations from Ghana. With star players like Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, and Thomas Partey in their ranks, Ghana will look to cause a big upset against Portugal.

Ronaldo, who suffered a stomach problem that caused him to miss the 4-0 win against Nigeria, said he felt great. This is good news for the Portuguese team and fans since Ronaldo’s goal-scoring ability is something the European team will be heavily dependent on. Over the years, Ronaldo has been the most reliable and trusted man to get Portugal out of crisis whenever there has been one.

The team’s captain also praised his Portuguese unit. While he believes they are the best team at the World Cup, Ronaldo added that it is important to focus on their game against Ghana. “I feel that this Portugal squad has great potential. I think we can win for sure, but we need to focus on the next game. So, it’s focusing on Ghana, get a win, and go from there. We will see in the end who the best team is, but I believe Portugal is the best team in this World Cup. But we need to show it on the pitch.”
