“Didn’t disrespect” – Lionel Messi breaks silence on Canelo Alvarez threat

“Didn’t disrespect” – Lionel Messi breaks silence on Canelo Alvarez threat

After facing Canelo Alvarez’s outrage, Lionel Messi claims he did not disrespect Mexico during post-match celebrations following Argentina’s World Cup victory last week. Messi led Argentina to a 2-0 victory at Lusail Stadium on Saturday, helping the team recover from an unexpected loss to Saudi Arabia in Qatar World Cup’s first match.

After that victory, a video appeared to show Messi kicking a Mexico shirt with his foot in the locker room. Canelo strongly objected, but the boxing legend later apologized for his remarks. Messi doesn’t see anything wrong with what he did, and he has nothing to apologize for.

“It was a misunderstanding,” he stated. “Those who know me know that I don’t disrespect anyone. These are things that happen in the locker room after the game. I don’t have to ask for forgiveness because I didn’t disrespect the people of Mexico or the jersey.”

Why did Wrestler Canelo Alvarez threatened Argentina captain Lionel Messi?

Canelo Alvarez lambasted the Argentine for disrespecting Mexico before threatening him, telling him to “hope to God” he doesn’t find him. Alvarez appeared to be still in shock at Messi’s incredible performance against his native Mexico. While pulling off his boot, Messi appeared to kick a stray Mexico shirt that was probably in the dressing room following the customary post-game swap.

“Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag,” Alvarez tweeted. “He better pray to God that I don’t find him. Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico! I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.”

While protecting their country’s captain from Alvarez’s insult, Argentina’s fans were shocked at the idea that Messi had purposefully disrespected Mexico. Even Mexican fans struggled to support Alvarez’s allegations, with the majority of them admitting that the Argentinian star was simply taking off his boots after the game.
