“Best striker in Italy isn’t playing; Really missing Osimhen”- Fans blame Victor Osimhen’s absence for Napoli’s 1-0 UCL loss against AC Milan
The Milan side managed to defeat a stale Napoli side missing their prolific striker
AC Milan managed a 1-0 victory over Napoli at the San Siro in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The Milan side were hoping to replicate their recent success over Napoli in the league. The Gli Azzurri were without star-man Victor Osimhen, who missed the game with a groin injury.
In a cagey opening to the match, Napoli and AC Milan both matched each other’s stride for the first 15 minutes. The most clear-cut chance fell to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia whose driven shot was blocked on the line. Milan tried to keep their opponents from gaining any momentum in the centre of the pitch by forming a midfield overload near the center circle.
Rafael Leao had another good opportunity when the Portuguese forward beat two defenders with a mix of steel and silk but scuffed his shot wide of the post. The breakthrough arrived just six minutes before the break. Brahim Diaz made a great run through two Napoli defenders before laying it off to Leao. The wide man then returned the ball to Diaz, who spun it around for Bennacer. The Algerian struck it with full force, and it ricocheted off Alex Meret to hit the back of the net.
Simon Kjaer missed the opportunity to double the host’s lead, when he struck the crossbar from a corner, just before the halftime whistle. Napoli were the team quicker after the break, with Elmas’ header tipped over the bar by Maignan. Kvara’s creativity finally came to show in the second half, with Calabria managing to keep the Georgian quiet for the first 45.
Andre Zambo Anguissa received two quickfire yellow cards and was sent off in the 74th minute. Kim Min Jae also picked up a suspension for dissent following his third yellow card of the Champion’s League campaign.
The two teams will face off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona again next week. But before that, Milan will take on Bologna in the league to strengthen their claim for a Champions League spot, while Napoli take on Verona.
Talking about the much-awaited encounter, football is followed by hundreds of millions of fans, with most of them betting on the results of matches that happen almost throughout the year. The volume of online betting means gambling and casino platforms have also incorporated sports betting into their offerings, and modern-day online casino games (preferably in Italy) are often promoted on sports betting sites and use betting on football as a funnel to attract more customers.

Fans blame absence of key for Napoli’s poor performance
Napoli could not perform to their usual standards against Milan that have seen them top the Serie A table. While the Rossoneri’s tactics were key to Milan’s win, Napoli were missing key man Victor Osimhen.
The fans were also quick to slam the referee Istvan Kovecs. The Romanian referee was blamed for the excessive amount of bookings throughout the game.
Despite the absence of Osimhen, Napoli were a shell of their usual selves. Both Kvaratskhelia and Lozano failed to create anything clear-cut, and the defences came out on top. However, with the second leg at their own backyard, Spaletti’s men will not let Milan beat them thrice in a row.
