“First Chelsea player to get me off my seat since Eden Hazard days”- Fans in awe of Mykhailo Mudryk on his Premier League debut against Liverpool
Mykhailo Mudryk's astounding Premier League debut attracts praises and compliments from around the world despite Liverpool draw.
Mykhailo Mudryk in action for Chelsea in his Premier League debut
Mykhailo Mudryk played his first Premier League game for Chelsea today against Liverpool. The Ukrainian winger had a sensational debut at Anfield, as he was subbed on in the second half of the game. The 22-year-old attacker joined the Blues for over $75 million plus add-ons from Besiktas. The former Besiktas star impressed the football world last season with his skills on the ball.
Mykhailo Mudryk came on the pitch after the 60-minute mark and completely changed the game in Chelsea’s favor. The Ukrainian footballer’s pressing and work rate helped Chelsea control possession more easily. On top of this, he also ‘almost’ scored a debut goal against Liverpool, after failing to convert a threatening cross from teammate Hakim Ziyech.
Although Mudryk had a wonderful debut, it wasn’t enough for the Blues to seal a victory against a struggling Liverpool side. Graham Potter’s men were off to a dangerous start after Kai Havertz found the net just three minutes into the game only for the VAR to rule it offside. Since then, both teams seemed harmless in front of the goal.
Chelsea and Liverpool are currently sitting midway in the Premier League table, as both clubs are in desperate need of league points. Despite spending over $600 million, Chelsea is still struggling to find their form in league football. Do you think signings like Mykhailo Mudryk would be successful at the club in the coming months?

Mudryk had a busy night at Anfield as he created numerous opportunities in the second half. The 22-year-old dribbled past James Milner, Salah, and Joe Gomez, before hitting the side netting of Alisson’s goal. Mudryk linked up very well with fellow Chelsea youngsters like Conor Gallagher, and Hakim Ziyech during the game.
Chelsea’s new signing was also a constant threat to veteran fullback James Milner ever since he stepped on the pitch. Milner was beaten 1v1 by the winger on various occasions. Milner eventually received a yellow card for fouling the winger. A promising sight for all Chelsea fans as they finally witness a player with a creative attacking mindset in their squad.
Chelsea will next face Fulham on 4th February 2023 in the Premier League. Fulham currently sits at the 6th position on the table but is only two points away from the Blues. It would be a tough challenge for Graham Potter’s men as they lost 2-1 the last time Chelsea faced Fulham.
