“What a signing; Bayern is winning UCL this year”- Fans react as Bayern Munich signs Thomas Tuchel after sacking Julian Nagelsmann

Bayern Munich has parted ways with Julian Nagelsmann and announced ex-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as the new coach. The Bavarians are unhappy about not dominating the Bundesliga as they used to do in the last decade. They currently sit in second place, a point off rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Their success in the Champions League wasn’t enough after leading them to a place in the quarterfinals, where they drew Manchester City. The German giants have won 10 consecutive Bundesliga titles and wouldn’t want to toss out a potential domestic title. Nagelsmann’s side has picked up five wins from their last 10 games in the league, drawing three and losing two. Their most recent league game before the international break saw them suffer a disappointing 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen.

Tuchel arrives in Bavaria with plenty of experience, as he has previously managed Mainz, Dortmund, and PSG. German has won trophies in three different countries. Tuchel will hope to emulate his success in his first season at Stamford Bridge, where he took the reins in January 2021 and steered the Blues to the Champions League trophy that same season. His Chelsea side defeated Manchester City in the 2021 final, and by coincidence, Bayern now faces Pep Guardiola’s team in the quarter-finals of this year’s competition. The tie winner will face Real Madrid or Chelsea in the semi-finals.

Tottenham‘s search for a new manager to replace the likely-to-depart Antonio Conte could be over with the sacking of Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann. The tenure of Conte in north London looks to be coming to an very soon following a recent outburst directed at the club after the 3-3 draw with Southampton. Conte unleashed a bombardment of criticism at the club. He said: “They are used to it here, they are used to it. They don’t play for something important yeah? They don’t want to play under pressure, they don’t want to play under stress.

The Italian could not turn around the misfortunes of the club as they stand currently in the fourth spot with other teams having games in hand, and a Champions League exit at the hands of AC Milan left many supporters questioning his commitment to the club. Another manager losing his job is Bayern’s Julian Nagelsmann, despite guiding the German giants into the Champions League quarter-finals. Tuchel had been listed as one of many possible managerial targets for the club.

Nagelsmann being available for work could be a massive opportunity for Spurs to snap one of the best young managers in world football. He has had great success with RB Leipzig, leading them to second in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal Final, where they lost 4–1 against Borussia Dortmund. He led the Red Bulls to their first-ever UCL semi-finals and became the youngest coach in history, therefore, to coach a side in the semis.
