England and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard tried to speak Arabic in a video to confirm joining Saudi side Al Ettifaq as their head coach. He was previously the coach of Premier League side Aston Villa before the club sacked him in the middle of the season for his poor run at the job.
Al Ettifaq’s official social media handles posted a video of Gerrard where he was seen embracing the local culture of Saudi Arabia and trying to speak Arabic. In the video, Gerrard sent a message to the fans of the club. He said, “Hello, I am Steven Gerrard. I am with Al-Ettifaq. See you soon!”
Gerrard a few weeks ago reportedly denied rumors of him joining the Saudi side. He had said, “I was invited over there to look at a potential offer, I’ve been analyzing that but where I stand right now I won’t be taking it on.” But it seems he took a U-turn as the Saudi club convinced him to join the club.
However, it is unlikely for the Liverpool great to get a large budget for the club as Al Ettifaq is not one of the four clubs which were acquired by the monarchy-backed Public Investment Fund earlier last month. The Commandos, as they call themselves, finished seventh in the league last year and have not won a single trophy since 2006, their last win in the GCC Champions League.
Top European players are moving to Saudi Arabia due to lucrative offers from some of the clubs. Players like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Marcelo Brozovic, and Ruben Neves have all moved to the Saudi Pro League this season on monstrous deals.

Fans troll Gerrard as he tried to speak Arabic
Former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard tried to speak Arabic to announce that he has joined the Saudi side Al Ettifaq as their new manager. Although at first, the legendary midfielder refuted claims of joining the club. But seems he has taken a U-turn from that decision.
Fans are reportedly trolling Gerrard for his attempt to speak Arabic. Many fans took to social media to mock the former midfielder. One fan wrote, “Onani Ettifaq see you soon.” Another fan wrote, “He looks like a text-to-speech synthesizer.” And a third fan wrote, “Say that after a couple of pints.”
