FC Barcelona legend Dani Alves has landed in more trouble after a Spanish court ruled out the Brazilian’s bail. The fullback has spent the last month in prison after he was arrested on sexual harassment charges. The verdict came out on Tuesday after the Spanish jurisdiction found evidence supporting the victim’s allegations for Dani Alves. 

According to reports from ESPN, Alves’ legal team had submitted an appeal to the court to be released from jail for the ‘pre-trial’ time period. The footballer’s request was rejected by the judge. This was because Dani Alves is considered financially sound to fly away from the country. The footballer might have to get used to watching prison walls after the Spanish jury’s decision.

The 39-year-old was accused of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in Barcelona’s famous Sutton nightclub. Alves was held in custody on January 20, 2023, and has been imprisoned ever since. The Brazilian has also tarnished his relationship with his wife Joana Sanz. The couple is moving closer to taking a divorce following Alves’ arrest. Joana Sanz is reportedly fuming at her husband and star footballer for his involvement with a different woman. 

Despite the initial investigation beginning in the first week of January, the footballer was arrested after both parties had given their official statements to the Spanish police. As per MARCA, Alves has changed his statement multiple times over the course of the police investigation. The court has finally made a verdict on the Brazilian’s case, finding him guilty of all these accusations.
