Mario Balotelli has played in the Premier League twice in his career. After shining in the Serie A for Inter Milan, Manchester City purchased him for EUR 21.8 Million. He played for the club for two and a half seasons before falling and moving to AC Milan.
After spending 2 seasons there, he returned to England to join Liverpool FC in 2014, where he didn’t have the best of times. In 28 matches, he managed 4 goals in 28 appearances. Along with that, he had to play under the “disaster manager,” which was the worst he played under.
The former Premier League player spoke with TVPlay, a Lithuanian TV channel, about his time under Brendan Rogers. He said despite his training and tactical prowess, he was a “disaster” as a person.
Brendan Rodgers is the worst coach I have ever had. He was number one as far as training sessions were concerned, what with keeping possession of the ball and the small-sided games. But as a person he was a disaster.Mario Balotelli to TV Play
Balotelli went the next season on loan to AC Milan, while Rodgers was sacked by Liverpool. He was replaced by Jurgen Klopp, who went on to be one of the most successful Liverpool Managers in the 21st century. Upon returning from his loan, Balotelli was sold to OGC Nice, as Klopp didn’t take him to any pre-season tours.
Brendon Rodgers agrees with Mario Balotelli, he admits that they did not connect
Mario Balotelli has once again criticized his past managers. Just weeks after leaving Liverpool, he claimed Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp didn’t leave an impact on him. The Celtic Manager supports Balotelli’s view.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Rogers admitted he could not connect with the Italian, even though he tried his best on the field. Further, he added that if he matched his intensity with his talent, he would have been one of the best footballers in the world.
He was probably absolutely spot on. I just couldn’t really connect with Mario. He was one that came in very late in the window. It was a gamble taken from a club perspective. It was one where, he’s a big talent, he’ll come in and develop, he’s got all the tools. In all fairness, I just found it very difficult to connect with Mario.Brendan Rodgers to talkSPORT
After being sacked by the Merseyside club, he went to Scotland to manage Celtic. In 2019 he returned to the Premier League with Leicester City. In the 4 years, he managed to win the FA Cup and FA Community Shield but left in April 2023 as the club relegated. He returned to Celtic to replace the outgoing Ange Postecoglu in 2023. Balotelli left Nice in 2019 and since then has moved 6 times. He currently plays for the Turkish club, Adana Demirspor.
