“He was offered to every Champions League club,” Frankfurt CEO pokes fun at Cristiano Ronaldo and his agent after he parts ways with Manchester United

According to the CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt, Cristiano Ronaldo was offered to the German club during his frantic attempt to leave Manchester United earlier this season. Following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, the veteran striker was released from his United contract on November 22. It was a painful departure from Old Trafford.

Axel Hellmann, a member of Frankfurt’s executive board, recently said that United allegedly offered Ronaldo to a number of teams throughout Europe in an effort to get rid of him. He told DAZN: “He was even offered to us,” while Philip Holzer, chairman of the club’s supervisory board, added: “I have the feeling he was offered to every Champions League club.”

Ronaldo made it apparent that he wanted to leave United this summer after they failed to qualify for the Champions League, but there didn’t seem to be any teams interested in signing him, so he stayed in Manchester. After a humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford, he was dropped from the starting lineup but went on to make a number of explosive statements to Piers Morgan on television in which he criticized teammates and manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo was also benched by manager Fernando Santos at the most recent World Cup in Qatar due to his extreme reaction to being subbed off against South Korea in group stage match. Portugal went on to win their round-of-16 tie against Switzerland 6-1 before getting eliminated by Morocco in the quarterfinals.
