“He certainly can be a leader”- Cristiano Ronaldo should stay at Manchester United in the 2022-23 Premier League season, says team’s former assistant coach

It is still unclear whether Ronaldo will play the season-opener against Brighton.

The Portuguese great Cristiano Ronaldo has been on the news for the entire transfer window and has asked to leave Manchester United. Manchester United played to qualify for the elite competition, the UEFA Champions League. He also missed the majority of the pre-season games and has just played 45 minutes in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.

Although Ronaldo has not spoken about the matter publicly, his agent has offered him to a lot of clubs across Europe for his client to play Champions League football yet again. On this note, Chris Armas, Man United’s former assistant coach has spoken about the matter and has urged the new manager Erik Ten Hag to keep Ronaldo in the team for the upcoming season.

Chris Armas joined Man United as the assistant coach alongside Ralf Rangnick who replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last November. Armas was in no short of praise for the Portuguese superstar saying that he would be pivotal to the side’s conquest for a top-four finish in the upcoming season and that Ten Hag should focus on keeping him at the club. With just three days left before Manchester United kick off their season against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, Ronaldo’s future at the club still looks uncertain.

On account of Cristiano Armas told Sky Sports, “Each guy has their different type of leadership, he certainly can be a leader, in his way. My goal, like with everyone on the roster was ‘How can I get the most out of Cristiano?’

He also added “So, I do think that’s a hands-on approach. It’s speaking with him, it’s bringing him into the office, it’s asking him questions so he’s part of the solution, he’s part of the success.”
