Former Barcelona head coach Quique Setien had finally revealed an incident that took place during his time at Barcelona and in a recent interview with Informe Plus, he recalls the moment. He talks about his relationship with defender Gerard Pique and how the Barcelona player came on a bicycle to play the derby game against neighbors Espanyol that took place at Camp Nou.
He speaks about the unprofessional way that Pique chose to arrive at the stadium and also says how he vividly remembers the image of him riding the bicycle without any helmet and also shared how the incident had caused a lot of fuss during that time. Although Setien tried to handle it in a very professional way but initially asked a detailed explanations from the defender.
How Gerard Pique answered Quique Setien and settled the incident?
Quique Setien shared with Informe Plus how the incident went on saying, “I’m going to tell you an anecdote, do you remember a game when Piqué cycled down to the dressing room? They showed me the video before the game started and that day we only had two centre-backs, him and I don’t know if it was Lenglet.
After seeing the video, Setien asked Pique, “Hey, Gerard, what’s this about?” and Pique replied in a very calm and relaxed manner saying, “míster, no pasa nada (don’t worry, boss).” Setien then asked Pique about how to deal with the video, “Listen, now when the match is over and I have to go to the press conference to give the explanations I have to give and they ask me about this, what do I say?”
