“How can you say no?”- Former Barcelona star ready to switch sides and play for Real Madrid in future
Gerard Deulofeu
Former Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu acknowledged in an interview that if Real Madrid approached him, he would find it difficult to say no.
Gerard Deulofeu made his first-team debut for the club in 2011, playing for Pep Guardiola, who managed the team at the time. He progressed through the ranks at Barcelona’s renowned La Masia youth system. He did, however, leave the team in 2015 to sign with Everton, following loan stints with both the Toffees and Sevilla.
Deulofeu recently said that he has always been drawn to the idea of going back to Spain. “I like it because it is Spain and we have spoken with certain teams, but you never know what can happen. You have to enjoy the present because I’ve been away for two years and I know what it feels like,” he said.
Deulofeu also responded when asked if he would be interested to joining Real Madrid: “If they come, how are you going to say no?”

Gerard Deulofeu has emerged as a better player after joining Udinese
Deulofeu eventually made a return to Barcelona in 2017, re-signing from Everton, but was sent there on loan in January 2018 before the move was completed permanent six months later.
After joining Udinese in 2020, Deulofeu has seen professional success. The 28-year-old Spanish player has flourished at the Serie A team, finishing the previous season with 13 goals while also recording one goal and six assists in the first eight games of the 2022–23 season.
When asked to name his sports hero, Deulofeu chose Barcelona legend Ronaldinho. He also listed Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, and Lionel Messi as the three best teammates he had ever played alongside. The 28-year-old played in 28 matches throughout his two stints with Barcelona, recording two goals and two assists each time.
