“I had chances to leave Chelsea in the summer”- Kepa Arrizabalaga discloses period of uncertainty at the Blues

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Kepa Arrizabalaga has revealed the number of chances he had to leave Chelsea this summer to find a first-team opportunity but instead stayed and decided to fight for his place alongside first-choice keeper Eduoard Mendy. He has recently had an interview with El Larguero where he has also added how much trust the club has in him and that he is happy with the role in the squad.

He added, “I had chances to leave Chelsea in the summer – there were things, but the club always gave me their trust, they always wanted me to be part of the squad. We analyzed it and I am happy to stay and be in this great club”. Kepa was hugely linked with Napoli but Thomas Tuchel made sure that the hugely talented Spaniard stayed and they both mutually decided the plans the club has for him

Does Kepa still have a lot more to offer to Chelsea?

Kepa at Chelsea

Kepa joined Chelsea in 2018 but since then he hasn’t had the best of times at Stamford Bridge and has been on the news mostly for the wrong news. He was all over the news when he decided to snub his former coach, Maurizio Sarri decision to come off the pitch in the cup game against Manchester City two years ago and a year later he lost his place to Eduoard Mendy who has since been the No. 1 goalie.

Currently, Kepa is the second-choice keeper and barely plays the Premier League and the UCL matches, he gets his chances in the initial stages of the cup games. He still believes that he has still a lot to offer to the club and wants to fight for the position after the club has expressed its interest in him and wants him to stay for the long term.
