An authority on the matter, Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll, recently provided his opinion on Araujo’s choice to have surgery. The 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is due to begin on November 20, may be missed by the defence. He spoke – “Dr. Lempainen works with us in our professional team of Ripoll and De Prado. He is a surgeon of the highest international level and this player has the opportunity to reach the World Cup. When a muscle injury affects the tendon, the best thing to do is to have surgery.”

Surgery was the idle option for Ronald Araujo

Araujo made the best decision to have surgery because it will benefit his career in the long run. Since joining Barcelona in 2020, the player has been essential to the team. Araujo has played seven games for the Catalan club this season and has been a mainstay in defence alongside Jules Kounde. He has already made 89 appearances for the Blaugranas.

In his place, Xavi Hernandez will be forced to rely on defenders like Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, and Gerard Pique. Jules Kounde also sustained an injury during France’s UEFA Nations League match against Austria, making matters worse for the Spanish coach.
