Iran sends a massive message to protestors after refusing to sing the national anthem at the 2022 FIFA World Cup before their clash against England

Iran national football team
The second match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has raised a lot of eyebrows as the Iran national football made a huge statement by deciding not to sing their national anthem. The players made a massive statement by protesting against their country’s human rights issues and stood against their unjust policies.
Iran’s players were on the news previously having shown their support by covering the country’s symbols with black jackets during a friendly match earlier this year and some players also made a statement by deciding not to celebrate after scoring the goals. This statement was due to the death of the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini who was in police custody in September and was arrested unjustly.
Iranian national sides of other sports have also refused to sing the national anthem at their respective events recently, and today on a stage as big as the Wolrd Cup, it was really brave of the footballers. Captain Alireza Jahanbakhsh had said that the team have already discussed the issue but he didn’t confirm whether or if they have planned any such protest.
