Rudi Garcia, Al-Nassr’s manager, was impressed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence on the team as he praised the Veteran striker after his debut match in the Saudi Pro League. He stated that the Portuguese legend was able to ‘distract the defenders,’ thus helping the team achieve glory and stay at the top of the local league’s table.

“It’s a positive addition when you have a player like Ronaldo as he helps to distract the defenders, which is what happened with our goal,” Rudi Garcia informed reporters after Al-Nassr defeated Al-Ettifaq on Sunday.

“Today we created opportunities for him and asked the players to diversify the game between him and Talisca, and we must not forget that he participated in the (exhibition match against) Paris St Germain and did not get enough rest,” Garcia added.

Al-Nassr play Al-Ittihad on 26 January in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup. All eyes will be on the Portuguese star as he will be eager to score his first goal for Al-Nassr.

“Even with the presence of Ronaldo, it is not easy to win the Saudi League because of … the strength of the competitors,” the former Olympic Lyon boss added. He further mentioned that the league is very competitive and winning the Saudi League is still a challenge that they need to overcome. Al-Nassr sits at the top of the table with 33 points after their victory against Al-Ettifaq, extending their unbeaten streak to 13.
