Jadon Sancho is back at Borussia Dortmund. The nightmarish spell at Manchester United comes to an end as Sancho donned the Borussia Dortmund jersey for the first time since 2021. His return to the club was marked by a 3-0 win against Darmstadt, and more importantly, with an assist for club captain Marco Reus.

The later end of Jadon Sancho‘s career at Manchester United was marked by a regrettable clash with head coach Erik ten Hag. This saw the player be isolated from the first team for over 3 months, and eventually leaving the club on loan. It is understood that Sancho’s loan deal to Dortmund does not include a buy option, and that both clubs will pay part of his salary.

Fast forward to Saturday, Sancho came on as a substitute against Darmstadt in the 55th minute. The player replaced Jamie Bynoe-Gittens on the right wing, and set up a golden chance for former captain and friend Marco Reus.

Moreover, the German made no mistake of tapping the ball into an empty net. Sancho’s return to the club sparked a lot of conversation on social media as the 23-year-old begins his six-month loan at his former club.

Fans react to Sancho’s emphatic return to Dortmund

Jadon Sancho set-up an assist for Marco Reus on his return, and it is safe to say that fans are thrilled. Many breathed a sigh of relief as Sancho got back to his usual self. A fan said that Sancho managed to escape the clutches of United and Ten Hag before they could ‘ruin’ him. Some mocked the clash between the manager and player, and announced that Sancho turned out ‘victorious’.

Some mocked Ten Hag for still ‘waiting’ for an apology, whilst Sancho has got back to winning ways. However, a certain faction of supporters were unconvinced. They said that an assist is nothing to be praised, especially against weaker opposition such as Darmstadt. The club are 18th in the Bundesliga. Amidst all the chatter, fans did not forget to have a go against Manchester United winger Antony.

Meanwhile, a fan trolled the Brazilian, saying that Sancho has more goal involvements than him in just 22 minutes. While Dortmund are 5th in the Bundesliga and 15 points from the top, Sancho’s former club Manchester United are ninth, and 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Further, Sancho’s loan deal involves a loan fee of €4 million and a part of his salary. He joined United on a whopping price tag of £73 million.
