In a recent interview with Marca, Jordi Alba spoke about his thoughts regarding the ongoing Negreira case. Earlier this year, FC Barcelona has been allegedly blamed to have paid millions of dollars to a firm owned by Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira between 2016-2018. Back then Negreira was the vice president of the Spanish football federation’s Referee Technical Committee. And according to reports, Barcelona paid this money to get the refereeing decisions in their favor.
Barcelona left back, Jordi Alba recently when asked about this case, said, “I’ve never seen anything weird on the pitch. Then you may like a referee more or less but I’ve never seen anything playing”.
Alba reportedly wasn’t ok with such alleged blame. Jordi Alba answered with a resounding “no” to Risto Mejide’s question about whether “have you ever had proof that the club was buying referees? “
Alba added, “If we won, we won the league in the last game. We were 1-1 and Atlético de Madrid won with a draw or a win. We were only worth the victory. It was a play that they centered, it bounced I think to an Atletico player, it was not a game and Leo Messi scored and they annulled the goal. They took away the League from us”.
In the end, Alba said, “When people talk badly about Barcelona, I get angry and I don’t believe it. I’ve never noticed favoritism or anything weird. There are many things that have been said that are not true.”

Jordi Alba recalls the time when he heard that Messi was leaving Barcelona and moving to PSG
In Barcelona, Lionel Messi was always very friendly with all his teammates. But the one he was reportedly quite close to was Jordi Alba. In a recent interview with Marca, Alba recalled the moments when he came to know that Messi was leaving Barcelona.
During the interview, Alba was asked about Messi’s departure from Barcelona. Alba replied, “In the morning I was talking to Leo Messi and he told me he was going to sign and he was going to continue. I remember I was with my wife at home and I saw the news, I didn’t believe it, I was shocked. It was a hard time because we have a great relationship.”
Jordi then went on to say, “I know he had a hard time when he left here, we’ve seen each other again and talked again, but not about that, I know he had his family here, friends and we’ve gained a lot of things thanks to him.”
Alba then concluded by saying, “Now he is happy in Paris, but the first year he did not have a great time, he had a hard time adapting to life there. And this year I have spoken to him and he is much better. I don’t know if he will come back, we haven’t talked about it, I’d like to.”
