Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp isn’t someone you’d expect to rock Adidas Predators to training. Fans on Twitter, however, are loving it, as the German tactician pulled up to Liverpool training wearing the iconic Adidas shoes. To add to the joke, Klopp proceeded to wear them indoors as well and showed them off to his players like any other football fan would.
Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to part ways with the club at the end of the season. Pointing to fatigue, the manager announced that he will no longer be in the Anfield dugout come next season. That didn’t stop him from having a little bit of ‘fun’ with his players in training. Pictures of the gaffer showing off his studs to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara looking on in disbelief have taken over football Twitter.
There has seemingly been a liking towards the Adidas Predators in the Liverpool camp, with Klopp not being the first one to sport the shoes. Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold signed a multi-year deal with the brand, in a collaboration to promote the Predators.
The deal also saw Trent become one of the highest-paid players in Europe to promote a football shoe. He joined the likes of Pedri and Jude Bellingham to become the new face of the Adidas Predators.
The Adidas Predator: Revisiting a 30-year-old icon
With Jurgen Klopp’s decision to wear the Adidas Predators to training, here’s a look at the best players in World football that sport the iconic Adidas Predator. Released in 1994, the signature tri-color palette and unmissable ‘tongue’ design were brought back for the most recent edition of the shoe. Currently, the Predator is worn by the ‘best of the best’, including the likes of Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Pedri.
Moreover, Barcelona star and then ‘boy wonder’ Pedri sported the iconic shoes shortly after breaking into the Barcelona first team. The Spaniard wore the ‘Accuracy+’edition in the latter half of the previous season.
On the other hand, Trent Alexander-Arnold ended a long-running partnership with Under Armour in 2017. Now, with a new deal with Adidas, Trent made headlines by sporting an ‘unreleased’ pair of boots against Manchester City. Further, he has looked a better version of himself as well.
Meanwhile, talking of ‘the best in the business’, Jude Bellingham is by far the best to wear the Predators as of now. The Real Madrid star is synonymous with the Predator line of football boots and also became the first to wear them in the Champions League clash against Napoli. Players like Zinedine Zidane and Steven Gerrard have also worn the shoes over the years
