“So obsessed with goals,” Kevin De Bruyne makes bold prediction about Erling Haaland by the time he ends his career
Kevin De Bruyne has boldly predicted that Erling Haaland will have achieved great things by the time he finishes his career.

Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland
Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his opinion that Erling Haaland has an unquenchable desire to score goals. The Manchester City striker’s goal in their 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Liverpool was his 24th in 19 appearances this season, and his overall tally is nearing 200. De Bruyne believes that if Haaland keeps up his current level of performance, he could end up scoring 800 goals in his career.
Kevin De Bruyne has had the pleasure of working with several high-caliber strikers throughout his career, so he is well-versed in assessing the talent of 22-year-old Erling Haaland. The Belgian international enjoyed a productive relationship with Manchester City’s all-time leading scorer Sergio Aguero before the Argentinian departed the Etihad Stadium in 2021.
De Bruyne said: “Erling is so obsessed with goals. He already has about 200 goals, so he can probably go to 600, 700 or 800 if he stays fit and does the things that he does. Erling is a top-level striker. I don’t see Erling as different to a lot of people. He is a normal football player like everybody else and he doesn’t take himself too seriously.”
Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he holds Kevin De Bruyne in high esteem, referring to him as one of the best players to play for Manchester City after the team won against Liverpool. De Bruyne echoed the sentiment, expressing his admiration for his manager’s brilliance.
Pep Guardiola has a difficult task ahead of him in finding a way to accommodate both Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez

Pep Guardiola is in the enviable position of choosing how to incorporate a World Cup-winning player into his Manchester City squad shortly. Julian Alvarez was one of the standout performers in the 2022 tournament in Qatar, netting four goals which were second only to Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. He has earned a deserved break and will soon be ready to join the team.
The 22-year-old Argentine contributed significantly to his country’s victory in the World Cup for the first time in 34 years, appearing in every match from the third group stage onwards. Unfortunately, it was difficult for him to gain a consistent place in the starting lineup for his club team, Manchester City, before his departure for Qatar.
Since joining Manchester City, Erling Haaland’s impressive goal-scoring has been undeniable, having netted 24 goals in 19 appearances despite being younger than Alvarez. Though City may not maintain the same level of control as last season, if Haaland keeps finding the back of the net with such ease, it’s a guarantee that he will be in the starting line-up whenever he is available.
