Is Lionel Messi set to win yet another individual award?

Lionel Messi completed more or less of a clean sweep last year when it came to individual awards. The Argentine gave no chance to his competition as he was named the Ballon d’Or winner as well as the FIFA The Best Men’s Player last year. As yet another individual award comes around the corner, it is no surprise that Lionel Messi finds himself in the list of nominees.

Laureus World Sports Awards honors the best teams and individuals for their performances in the past year. Messi was awarded the same for his performances last year when he beat the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Max Verstappen, and Rafael Nadal to the title. He finds himself on the list of nominees for 2024, alongside Erling Haaland and Max Verstappen.

While Messi has yet to comment on the same, the Manchester City star opened up to the Press. He said,

Last year was really special for me and the team. I am really proud to be nominated for the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award alongside many other incredible athletes.

Will Lionel Messi be crowned for a record third time this year or will Haaland or Verstappen clinch the title? Only time will tell.
