MLS side Sporting Kansas City have announced a last-minute change in the venue of their match-up against David Beckham’s Inter Miami. As the MLS 2024 season is about to kickstart, Kansas City will be playing the match at the ‘Arrowhead Stadium’ which is also the home of the current Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs.
Instead of playing at their natural Children’s Mercy Park, the club has decided to change the venue due to Arrowhead’s better facilities to accommodate the biggest football stars. The match will mark the first game where Lionel Messi and his strike partner Luis Suarez will play for Miami as fans bite their nails expecting a stellar display from the duo.
They will be expected to run back the times from their days in Barcelona as it is set to be the most significant event for Kansas City this spring. This decision was confirmed by Sporting KC’s President and CEO Jake Reid. He has also expressed pride in partnering up with the Arrowhead Events for the exciting encounter.
Season Ticket holders will be blessed with special perks such as exclusive pre-sale access starting from the tenth of January. General Tickets will be available after the sixteenth of January. The shift marks a historic match-up between the two sides as it also pitches up the venue as a potential contender to host the 2024 Copa America.
Can Inter Miami win the MLS this season?
Inter Miami has garnered attention for its star-studded roster, featuring Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez. Expectations are high for the upcoming MLS season, but concerns arise over the team’s defensive capabilities. Super teams often prioritize attacking prowess over defensive solidity. Inter Miami faced defensive struggles in the latter part of the previous season. Ranking below average in expected goals allowed and goals conceded.
An aging roster and a packed schedule affected by international tournaments could pose obstacles to Inter Miami’s quest for dominance. Despite assembling a formidable attacking lineup, Inter Miami faces a common super team dilemma – balancing attacking flair with defensive resilience. The team’s defensive shape has been a vulnerable point, evident in struggles without the ball. With key defensive positions limited by league spending rules. Focus on star attackers, Inter Miami’s defensive lineup includes players more inclined toward attacking than defending.
As the team prepares for the 2024 season. Success hinges on finding a balance allowing attacking brilliance to shine while addressing defensive frailties. The upcoming season’s outcome depends on how effectively they navigate these challenges. Whether their attacking prowess compensates for defensive vulnerabilities.
