According to some reports, French giants Paris Saint-Germain have decided to part ways with Lionel Messi after contract talks fell through. Messi is set to leave the Qatari-backed club after joining FC Barcelona in the summer of 2021. His departure from Barcelona came after the club failed to offer him a new contract.
Since arriving from Qatar as a world champion, the Argentine star has been in discussions with the Ligue 1 champions. Despite his advanced age, his stock remains high. At 35, he has 18 club goals and 17 assists this season in Ligue 1. Messi’s incredible seven goals inspired his country to World Cup glory in the Middle East.
It appeared that he would stay in Paris beyond the end of the 2022/23 season. However, talks have continued, and with no end in sight, his club is said to have pulled a deal off the table. According to sources, PSG wants to part ways with one of the superstar trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Messi.
The Argentine is the most likely to leave, especially since his contract is about to expire. It’s likely to fuel speculation about a return to Barcelona, with his former teammate Xavi making no secret of his desire to re-sign him.

Lionel Messi and Barcelona reunion talks intensify

PSG fans have booed Lionel Messi several times this season. Former Barcelona player Thierry Henry believes the Argentine should return to the club, where he made 778 appearances, scoring 672 goals.
Henry said: “You can’t whistle one of the best players on the team, who has 13 goals and 13 assists this season. Personally, I would like to see him finish his career at Barcelona, in Europe.
