The Argentina maestro Lionel Messi has started his 2022 World Cup campaign with a loss to Saudi Arabia. Though it was a big upset for the Copa America champions, many believe the team will bounce back. Before the world cup, Messi’s long-time doctor revealed that he wanted a different outcome for Argentina’s world cup campaign. He had massive concerns over the political future of the Latin American country if the national teams secured the ultimate football glory.
Diego Schwarztein treated Lionel Messi when he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency when he was young before joining his former club FC Barcelona. The doctor has somehow maintained a relationship with Lionel Messi since then. The doctor revealed before the campaign that he doesn’t want the Argentine horses to triumph at this FIFA World Cup.
The doctor strongly believed the Politics of Argentina was going south; the doctor, as a Football fan, might want the country to lift the trophy, but as a countryman, he wants his team to get eliminated in the first round itself. He said, “As a football fan, I want Argentina to be champions. As an Argentine citizen, as a human being, I would like them to lose all three games and be eliminated in the first round,”.
The doctor believes his government will use the win to cover those who are at fault. He said, “Why? I’m convinced that this obštenely populist government that we have here would use the success of Argentina at the World Cup to cover things up. They announce the currency devaluation on the day the team plays when no one of focused,”.
“The data from the govt says that to not be poor you have to earn 120,000 Argentine pesos (about R13000) per month. The minimum (monthly) wage is 60,000 pesos(about R 6400), so even those who have work are poor.” Said the doctor claiming that he has lived through many crises in the country before but believes this to be the worst.
