Luis Rubiales to face four years of imprisonment if found guilty in s*xual assault case filed by Jenni Hermoso over kissgate

Luis Rubiales, former President of RFEF, would face up to 4 years of prison if found guilty in the case of s*xual assault filed by the World Cup champion, Jenni Hermoso. The case has now been officially filed by the Spanish National Women’s squad member who says Rubiales forcefully kissed her.
The incident occurred at the 2023 FIFA World Cup Final. After La Furia Roja Femini became victorious with their historic first-ever World Cup trophy, RFEF Chief, Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso without her consent during the award ceremony. This created a shockwave all over the footballing world for the weeks that have followed.
Football has witnessed protests from fans and even some of the Men’s and women’s footballers voiced up to show support for Hermoso. Although Luis Rubiales has publicly apologized for his behavior, the football community wants strict measures against his shameful actions.
As the Spanish Women made history by securing their first-ever FIFA World Cup against England by a 1-0 win in Sydney, Australia, the football community stands beside Hermoso. Further stating that the Champ has been treated badly.

Who will be the next President of RFEF?
Antonio Mateu Lahoz, retired La Liga referee, is potentially the next president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The officials have seen Mateu as the replacement in the events if Luis Rubiales resigns or is imprisoned.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that RFEF sees Mateu Lahoz as the perfect man to step up for the role of net President and carry forward Spanish football. Known for his card-heavy officiating is no alien to the sport. His knowledge and experience extend to many domestic and international platforms that can be expected to reform the Spanish football scene.
