Manchester United players to cast deciding vote on Mason Greenwood’s future with the Red Devils: Reports
The Red Devils might seek for players' opinions before welcoming Mason Greenwood's back in the first team.
Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood amidst the legal battle
Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood is finally hoping for a return to club football after staying out of action since January 2022. After a chaotic legal battle, all charges have been dropped and the Red Devils’ attacker is set to make a comeback to Old Trafford. Although, the Premier League club has initiated an investigation within the club before including the accused footballer in the team for the remaining season.
According to ESPN, the club is looking forward to gathering opinions from the players about the inclusion of Greenwood into the first team. Manchester United has confirmed that they are conducting ‘their own process‘ before finalizing the player’s future at the historic club. As per various other outlets, United will be consulting players from the men’s and the women’s teams. They plan on asking about their opinions about the 21-year-old’s case.
It is believed that there are various members from the women’s first team and the non-playing staff at Carrington who seem to be against the idea of sharing the training facilities with the formerly accused criminal. Keeping this in mind, Manchester United is taking all the necessary measures before dealing with Greenwood’s situation.
Following his arrest back in January 2022, Manchester United immediately suspended Mason Greenwood from the first team. The prodigal devil was accused of serious criminal charges like attempts to rape, assault, and coercive behavior by his former girlfriend Harriet Robinson. Despite the charges being dropped recently, the club issued an official statement, launching an internal investigation for the player.

Will Mason Greenwood ever play for Manchester United?
Nothing is certain as of now, but it’s assumed that Mason Greenwood would be joining the Red Devils’ camp soon. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all the charges against the footballer. The legal body justified its decision by stating that the “key witness” withdrew her appeal. The court also failed to emerge new evidence that led to Mason Greenwood’s bail.
Mason Greenwood played 15 matches last season, scoring five, and assisting one goal. He has been undoubtedly crucial for the Red Devils when he’s been on the pitch. Though, a player with a tarnished image like his can affect the club’s profile as well. It is believed that the final call will be taken by the Manchester United board. The club will not involve the head coach or any players in the decision-making process.
The 21-year-old sensation was arrested in January last year and has been out of action ever since. There has been a complete turnaround at the club during his absence, as Erik Ten Hag has finally stabilized a star-struck United team. Do you see the player wearing the club’s jersey again?
