Inter Milan beat Udinese 4-0 to remain at the top of Serie A on Sunday. The Nerazzurri’s 4-0 win impressed fans at the San Siro but it was something else that turned heads on social media. Benjamin Pavard, the 27-year-old right-back made an appearance after the full-time whistle to greet the home fans. The player did not notice teammate Marcus Thuram crouched up behind him and eventually made him fall over the forward.
Pavard is currently nursing a dislocated ligament in his left knee and has been out of action since early November. The player joined Inter from Bayern Munich in a deal worth €30 million plus 2 million in add-ons. Marcus Thuram on the other hand, has been in top form Inter. He has scored 6 goals and set up another 6 in his 15 appearances in Serie A. He also scored against Udinese in the first half.
Seeing that the Frenchman’s ‘prank’ was a hilarious success, the striker fled the scene. However, Benjamin Pavard chased him down and ‘confronted’ him in an incident where all parties shared laughs.
The home fans also saw the funny side, with videos captured from the stands also picking up laughter from the crowd. Serie A’s as well as Inter’s official Twitter accounts also posted the hilarious incident.
Inter Milan reclaim top spot in Serie A with Udinese win
Inter Milan saw their top spot snatched away by Juventus earlier this weekend. The Old Lady won 1-0 against defending champions Napoli to go top of the table on Saturday. However, Inter spent little over 24 hours being second best, as an easy win against Udinese helped them ‘reclaim’ their top spot. Goals from Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Federico Dimarco, Marcus Thuram, and Lautaro Martínez helped the home side cruise to a 4-0 win.
Inter began the game on the front foot as Lautaro Martìnez and Federico Dimarco saw their shots saved by Marco Silvestri. Eventually, Inter found the breakthrough via Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s. The #20 confidently dispatched his penalty from the spot after the referee pointed to the spot for a foul on Lautaro Martìnez. His goal was followed up by a Dimarco goal, who blasted his left-footed shot past Silvestri.
Inter put three past Udinese after Marcus Thuram scored the third and ‘easiest’ goal of the night. The Frenchman found himself unmarked and in front of goal and made no mistake to finish a tap-in from Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s cross. The second half saw Lautaro Martìnez finally secure his goal of the night. He picked up the ball from near midfield and unleashed a long-ranger which eluded the grasp of Silvestri. Inter now have 38 points from 15 games.
