Mason Greenwood would be open to following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and playing in Asia to revive his football career if Manchester United decide to terminate his contract. The likely destination for the Englishman is believed to be China. According to reports from Dailymail.uk. The 21-year-old is under internal investigation by the club following the dropped charges of alleged rape and assault on 3rd February 2023.
The source also revealed that Greenwood expressed his unhappiness with the club’s lack of support and showed a willingness to play in China if it offered a steady salary and playing time. However, friends fear rival fans will subject him to a torrent of abuse.
Manchester United has not included Mason Greenwood in their squad list registered with UEFA for the Europa League knockout rounds, despite his presence on the Premier League squad list and retention of the No. 11 squad number. Manager Erik ten Hag declined to comment on the situation, but the club issued a statement that it would conduct its own process before determining next steps.
The Chinese Super League was once a desirable destination for footballers, attracting the likes of Carlos Tevez, Oscar, Alexandre Pato and Hulk due to high wages. However, the pandemic and tighter restrictions on overseas players have reduced its appeal. Greenwood has not played a match in over a year, with his last appearance coming in United’s win over West Ham last January.
Mason Greenwood enjoyed Cristiano Ronaldo-esque stats at Manchester United before the Ban.

In the 2021/2022 season, he played in 19 games for the club in both the Champions League and the Premier League, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists. His shooting accuracy was 84.9% and he took an average of 0.8 shots per game.
