In a highly anticipated court verdict, former Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy was acquitted of all charges of rape and sexual assault on Friday. The 28-year-old defender was seen emotional and broking down into tears after the final judgment by the Chester Crown Court, England, and later, felt overwhelmed with relief and gratitude.

After much deliberation for three staring weeks, the courts ultimately announced the verdict in Mendy’s favor. The court declared that the allegation of rape and sexual assault of two women in his luxurious mansion in Cheshire, England was false, affirming that the encounters were totally consensual.

He thanks everyone who has supported him throughout this ordeal and now asks for privacy so he can begin rebuilding his life”
