On Sunday night, Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by Premier League table toppers, Liverpool. While the stats show the game was evenly matched, Arsenal were the side with better chances to win but their inability to score lost them the match. An own goal by Jakub Kiwior and a last-minute goal by Luiz Diaz sealed the fate of the Gunners.
In the 58th minute of the game, Arsenal missed a good chance to score their first goal. As replays showed the miss, it also showed the reaction of the Arsenal manager. As he saw the miss, Mikel Arteta lifted his legs in frustration. Although not noticeable in the first view, many fans on the internet noticed something embarrassing
As he lifted his legs, it looked like he had ripped his pants from the crotch. At first view many would miss it, but by pausing/slowing down the video. This isn’t the first time many managers have had trouble with their clothing as well. Arsenal manager and icon, Arsene Wenger, often struggled with the zip of his jackets. Zinedine Zidane once tore his pants in 2016 during Real Madrid’s match with Wolfsburg. Pep Guardiola also tore his pants while at Bayern.
Mikel Arteta requests fans to back players
In their past 7 matches, Arsenal have only managed to win one single match. Although the team does well offensively, they are unable to score. In their last three games against Liverpool, Fulham, and West Ham, they had the better-expected goal as well.
With cries from fans to bring in strikers and reinforcements to the club, Mikel Arteta has begged the fans to back his team as they are good and will improve with their backing. He further added that his players deserve the support.
What I beg the supporters is that they are behind the team, that they’ve done in difficult moments. Stick with the ones we have - they are incredibly good. If not, they don’t do what they’ve done again today, in Anfield and here. Stick with them, it’s exactly what they need, that we are fully behind them.
From being at the top in Christmas to 4th by New Years, Arsenal’s form has been a huge concern to them and the fans. They don’t play for another two weeks now. They will host Crystal Palace on the 20th and hope for their first win in over a month.
