Morocco footballer has no sympathy for Cristiano Ronaldo after tragic 2022 FIFA World Cup exit, says he ‘enjoyed seeing him cry’
The Moroccan claims Messi is the greatest of all time.
Morocco international Sofiane Boufal has said that he enjoyed seeing Cristiano Ronaldo cry at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi. Boufal was talking about his side’s remarkable run to the World Cup semi-finals when asked about defeating Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo’s hopes. Ronaldo went into the World Cup in Qatar with high hopes, but the tournament did not go to plan for him.
“Cristiano’s tears after you won against him at the World Cup”? The reporters asked to which he replied, “With all due respect to him, but I enjoyed seeing him cry, rather than us crying. I prefer Messi over Ronaldo & the club I wish to play for is BARCELONA.” Morocco stunned the world after their quarter-final win over the Portuguese superstar making them the first African side to ever reach the last four of a World Cup.
They beat the likes of Belgium, Spain and Portugal on their dream run but lost to France in the last four. Pundits praised them for their energetic defensive performances and thrusting counter-attacks in Qatar. Portugal on the other hand, crashed out of the quarters and being 38, Ronaldo’s chances of a World Cup triumph are diminished.
He had a disastrous year being released by Manchester United to be benched during the final World Cup matches and subsequently ruining his hopes of international glory. However, he has redeemed himself in the Saudi League scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in 10 matches for Al-Nassr. Boufal will be in action for Al-Rayyan in the Qatari league where they will face Al-Sailiya on Friday evening.

The Portuguese legend sends a message to Rudi Garcia following the manager’s exit at Al Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo has wished Rudi Garcia well for the future after the Al Nassr manager’s much-anticipated exit from the club was confirmed on Thursday. The Saudi side, nine-time domestic champions, announced they had parted company with the Frenchman “by mutual agreement”, bringing an end to his eight-and-a-half-month tenure.
Garcia leaves Nassr second in the Saudi Pro League, with the Riyadh club three points behind Al Ittihad with seven games remaining. He has been replaced by Under 19 manager Dinko Jelicic. On Thursday, in response to Garcia’s exit, Ronaldo posted on Instagram a picture with the former Roma coach together with a note reading: “Pleasure to have worked with you. Wishing you all the best for the future.”
Al Nassr, who later posted pictures of Garcia attending the club’s annual iftar and saying goodbye to players, had earlier said in a statement: “Al Nassr can announce that head coach Rudi Garcia has left the club by mutual agreement. The board and everyone at Al Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past eight months.”
