Newcastle United’s return to the UEFA Champions League has been an eventful one. Despite being drawn into a ‘group of death’ alongside AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund, they were bottom in their group. After they thrashed PSG 4-1 in St. James’ Park in the 2nd Game Week, it looks like they will get their 2nd win by beating them at the Parc des Princes thanks to Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak opened the scoring for Newcastle United with an easy tap-in. The goal would not have been possible without Tino Livramento, whose run from the left wing while inverting got the PSG defense out of shape. He played it to Miguel Almiron, who tried curling it into the left bottom corner.

Gianluigi Donnarumma dived and tried to catch the ball but spilled it to Isak, and the Swede punished him for his mistake and slotted it into the goal. Going into half-time, Newcastle are going to finish the game week in 2nd place if the result does not change.

Meanwhile AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are drawn going into halftime. Oliver Giroud failed to convert a penalty in the 6th minute and 3 minutes later Dortmund were awarded a penalty just 3 minutes later, which Marco Reus ensured was scored. Samuel Chukwueze equalized 27 minutes later.

Netizens call out Gianluigi Donnarumma for costly mistake

While fans were happy PSG were down by a goal, many fans were disappointed with Donnarumma’s keeping efforts. Lionel Messi fans ensured the club remembered who they were missing, while others just laughed and mocked PSG.

After finishing 4th in the 2022/23 Premier League, they qualified for the Champions League after 21 years. In their last appearance in 2002/03, they managed to get out of the group stages and qualify for the 2nd group stage. They unfortunately were grouped with Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Bayer Leverkusen and failed to move forward in the competition.
