Manchester United hit a new low yesterday as the Red Devils were beaten 3-0 in their backyard by Bournemouth. Following yet another embarrassing result, former Manchester United player and football coach Phil Neville ripped into the club. However, he backed Erik ten Hag, claiming that he thinks the Dutchman won’t be fired just yet. “I don’t think he’ll get fired” were Phil Neville’s words on NBC after the game.

He added that today’s loss was a repetition of what has been happening throughout the season. “The performance levels are nowhere near good enough” added Neville. He also added that the performance against Chelsea stood out so much because it is something that “doesn’t happen often“. He also gave the players a wake-up call and asked them to take more responsibility on the pitch.

United have to get it out of their heads that they have this divine right to challenge for league titles...million, million miles away from the level required to compete

Neville also opined that the club is “exactly where they’re supposed to be in terms of the level of performance and quality”. The club is currently 6th in the league, behind Tottenham, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag reflects on 3-0 loss to Bournemouth

Erik ten Hag has once again been put on the ‘hot seat’ after Manchester United lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth. Following the game, the Man United boss was once again forced to explain United’s poor performance. “We started very poorly“, said the boss. He contrasted this game to that against Chelsea, where they got off to a better start.

He also pointed fingers at his team’s inability to defend in transition. Another reason for their loss was succumbing to Bournemouth’s high and aggressive press. “You shouldn’t give away the ball so easily” complained Ten Hag after the game. As per Ten Hag, the second goal was the turning point in the match. “The breakdown was the second goal,” said the manager.

Even though he gave Bournemouth credit for the win, he did not let any mistake from United slide. United only managed 3 shots throughout the game and were booed by the home fans after the game. Ten Hag also said that the start they had to their game was “unacceptableWhen you start like we did, you can’t do that. You get killed“. They were indeed ‘killed’, as goals from Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing, and Marcos Senesi humiliated United in their home turf.
