English broadcaster and journalist Piers Morgan has slammed former USWNT player Megan Rapinoe. Morgan lashed out against Rapinoe in reaction to her aspirations and ideals post-retirement. Reacting to her comments to the press, Morgan said, “Oh shut up.” He proceeded to point out the flaws in her previous work as well.

Piers Morgan pointed out, sarcastically, what she really meant. “Now that she’s retired, she wants to see biological males who’ve transitioned to be trans-women, play in the Women’s National Soccer Team,” he said. However, Piers censured Megan for not wanting the same to happen during her tenure on the team. This meant that such transitioned “biological males” would take her spot, according to Piers.

However, Piers Morgan applauded Megan Rapinoe for her efforts in bringing parity to the USMNT and USWNT. “You’ve left endorsing something that would destroy women’s rights to fairness and equality – THAT is your legacy,” said Morgan. Rapinoe recently announced her retirement from the national team. The player called time after 203 caps for the USWNT.

In her last game for the national team, Megan Rapinoe started as captain. The two-time World Cup winner ended her career on a high after prevailing over South Africa in her final match. She failed to register a goal or assist in her final game. However, Emily Sonnett scored a header from her deflected corner four minutes before Rapinoe was subbed off the pitch.

Following her substitution, teammates gathered around the player. The player passed the captain’s armband to Lindsey Horan before making one last bow in front of the fans. The crowd was on its feet as the World Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist made her way out of the pitch. Megan Rapinoe was replaced by Margaret Purce in the 54th minute.
