Shakira recently became the first artist with multiple #1 hits on the global Spotify chart in 2023. Both the songs focused mainly on taking a dig at her former partner Gerard Pique and his new girlfriend, Clara Chia, after their controversial separation recently.

They were one of the most popular couples until they split in June 2022 with speculations of infidelity as the main reason for their breakup. Since then, she has been releasing songs mainly aimed at Pique and his new girlfriend.

Shakira has thanked her fans for their immense support after her breakup as she claims life has been hard for her since. The 46-year-old said, “When I was on the floor, they gave me the strength and the courage to get up”. She admitted that thousands of fans played a vital role during her “lowest hours”. She concludes, “Well, I’m ready for the next round. Let life come and show me that there is more”. 

Shakira is one of the most successful singers in the world and a popular personality on social media. She has been referred to as the “Queen of Latin Music” and is noted for her musical versatility. She is especially famous for her song ‘Waka Waka’ (This Time for Africa) which featured as the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Gerard Pique recently sparked the headlines as he was reportedly thrown out of a Japanese restaurant in Barcelona. The pair were seen leaving the restaurant. He was allegedly asked by the owner of the restaurant to leave which the retired Barcelona defender couldn’t have expected. It was even rumored that the owner happens to be a fan of Pique’s former partner and Colombian superstar singer Shakira.

A few lyrics from her latest songs that further fired the controversies include: “I congratulate you, that you act well”, the song ‘Te Felicito’, the first one she dedicated to Piqué. “It wasn’t your fault nor mine, it was the monotony’s fault,” was the first stanza of the song of her second hit ‘Monotonía’. The most recent song is the one that speaks the most about Piqué. “A wolf like me is not for guys like you!” says a part of the song.

The video spread like wildfire on social media. The video incited reactions from thousands of fans, as they shared their thoughts about the incident. “The restaurant owner is more faithful to Shakira than Piqué himself,” fans mocked Pique. Later, many fans even applauded the restaurant owner for his attitude as he ran the couple out of his restaurant.
