Spanish Football Federation to denounce La Liga President Javier Tebas for defamation

The spokesman for the Spanish Football Federation, Javier Gómez Matallanas, has announced that they will denounce La Liga President Javier Tebas for defamation. Tebas publicly stated that the President of the Spanish Football Federation, Rubiales, was involved in match-fixing.

In recent weeks there have been several attacks between The La Liga president and Spanish Football Federation president due to the Negreira case, and it is the president of La Liga who has attacked the highest representative of the Royal Spanish Football Federation through a message on Twitter. “What ignorance, in order to hide the responsibility of others and of the RFEF. “Rubí”, what has FC Barcelona paid to a senior official of the RFEF referees! And the RFEF receives requests from the treasury and the prosecutor’s office, and he doesn’t find out anything”.

Tebas’s statements have already provoked the first reactions in the RFEF. Javier Gómez Matallanas, the spokesman for the Federation, has also answered the president of LaLiga via Twitter: “Have you had access to the FCB accounts for the last 20 years and Have you not been able to detect what you describe as the most serious case for the 7 million euros paid by the FCB?” Matallanas questioned.

In relation to the Negreira case, on March 22, the president of LaLiga asked Rubiales to dismiss Laporta and also took the opportunity to charge against Madrid and ask the RFEF to take action on the matter in the face of criticism from the white club towards the arbitration group. The RFEF authorities now make a move to denounce the La Liga president.

Both presidents have no love lost for each other. Also, both have attacked each other several times, most notably due to the Negreira case. Tebas recently attacked Rubiales claiming RFEF’s ignorance in the referee scandal in response to Rubiales’ statements on the case, where the RFEF president assured that “the economic control that LaLiga executes for these things is useless”.

A few weeks ago, it was Luis Rubiales who attacked Tebas in the program ‘Traveling with Chester’ presented by Risto Mejjide. On that occasion, the top leader of the Federation assured that he would denounce issues that he believed were being done wrong, and accused Tebas of manipulation. “I am never going to sit down and talk to someone who lies and hurts me to get me out of where I am,” he warned.

Last February, Luis Rubiales participated in the Europa Press Breakfasts, and took the opportunity to throw a dart at the president of LaLiga: “The best ambassador of the European Super League is Javier Tebas,” he declared. “The CVC thing, the investment fund with which the League has formalized an agreement has been an economically disastrous management and we also think it is illegal. It has made the poorest poorer and the richest poorer in relation to the Premier”, he sentenced. The RFEF is now taking measures to denounce Javier Tebas after claiming Rubiales has involvement in match-fixing.
