Paris Saint Germain superstar Lionel Messi’s father denied any possibility of Messi’s return to former club Barcelona. Lionel Messi reportedly refused to renew his contract with the French side, with his two-year contract coming to an end in June 2023. The seven times Balon d’Or signed a deal with PSG in 2021, as a free agent. Jorge Mendes informed the local media while he was on his way to catch a flight from Barcelona that Messi’s return to Barcelona is not possible.

“I don’t think Leo will play for Barca again,” he told Sport. The conditions are not met, We have not spoken with Laporta and there is no offer,” Jorge further explained. PSG are reportedly looking to reduce Lionel Messi’s salary to around €30 million to meet the Financial Fair Play rules. The salary reduction is allegedly the reason for Messi’s possible departure from the French side.

Lionel Messi is reportedly speculating a move to MLS club Inter Miami, as Barcelona is financially unable to afford Messi’s salary at the moment. Barcelona’s wages were recently reduced by €200 million by La Liga to oblige with the FFP. It seems inevitable for the Argentine to continue his career with David Beckham’s team if he does not renew his contract.

David Beckham, the legendary Real Madrid player and owner of Inter Miami will be looking to reinforce his team ahead of the new season.

Beckham shared his admiration for Lionel Messi last month in an interview, “I love Leo for many different reasons. I love him because he’s a great father. I love him because he’s a great personality, a character. He’s a great person. But I think what everybody loves about him is the way he plays the game. He plays the game with passion. He plays the game just free the way he plays. And I think this past World Cup again. I think the way he played for his team, for his country, and to win that World Cup was an incredible moment for him. And I love watching players like him.”

Lionel Messi’s move to MLS will be sensational for the popularity of football in the United States. French media outlet L’Equipe reported that Lionel Messi’s family would be keen on moving to the USA. Messi has a vacation home in Miami and regularly enjoy their time off in the US. Meanwhile, Paris Saint Germain face LOSC in their upcoming Ligue 1 match on February 19.
