“Things always go well,” Thomas Muller downgrades Lionel Messi in front of Cristiano Ronaldo in Champions League
Thomas Muller's Bayern Munich beat PSG to progress to the UCL quarterfinals
Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller recently revealed that his team’s results against Lionel Messi have always been better in comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo. The German faced Messi’s PSG last night in the Champions League Round of 16 clash against PSG.
After the resounding victory against PSG, Muller stated, “Against Messi, things always go well at all levels, in terms of results. At the club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid.” However, the 33-year-old attacking midfielder was quick to also show his admiration towards the Argentine stating, “I have the greatest respect for Messi’s World Cup performance, his individual performance was amazing.”
After getting knocked out by the German giants, Messi recorded his fifth Champions League loss in eight games against them. As for Muller, he has only lost one out of nine games when facing the Argentine. In comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo has won five out of eight games against the Munich side scoring an astounding 9 goals, with most of them coming in semifinal ties.

Bayern Munich knocks out PSG as Thomas Muller wins Man of the Match
Bayern Munich knocked PSG out of the Champions League with a 2-0 victory at home in the Round of 16 tie. The second leg saw Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry on the scoresheet as the Bavarian giants cruised to the quarterfinals. The win came after a 1-0 win away in the first leg at Paris where Kingsley Coman was the solitary goalscorer.
Thomas Muller was awarded the man of the match as he led his side to a fairly comfortable victory. The attacking midfielder was seen in the middle of the park controlling the attacking tempo of Bayern as he played key passes which eventually led to the opener scored by Choupo-Moting.
This was PSG’s fourth Round of 16 exit in the last six years. As for Bayern, they have reached the quarterfinals of the competition 10 times out of the last 11 seasons. While Bayern hosts Augsburg on Saturday next, PSG plays away at Brest on Saturday in their following fixture.
