Fabricio Diaz has emerged as Barcelona’s next possibility as they search for a new midfielder. However, Villarreal, River Plate, Flamengo, and Girona are also interested in Diaz ahead of next season. According to reports, Barcelona believes Diaz is an ideal match in midfield.
Barcelona reportedly met Diaz’s agent last week. The player appears to be leaving Uruguay after the U-20 World Cup, putting Barça on high alert. According to the report, the Liverpool Montevideo midfielder might be available for less than €6 million. His technical abilities, combined with his aggressive playing style, could make him a great fit for Barcelona’s system.
Barcelona has recently missed out on a lot of South American players including Enzo Fernandez, Endrick, and even Julian Alvarez. The possibility of signing Fabricio Diaz could is important for the Catalans as they aim to strengthen their midfield. They are considering Ruben Neves, Martin Zubimendi, and Sofyan Amrabat as alternatives, but all have big price tags for a summer move.
While the return of Lionel Messi has been identified as one of the priorities, the club is also working on the project of signing young talents across the world. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has started working on the operation to sign Fabricio Diaz. The club wants to seal the deal before the start of the Under-20 FIFA World Cup, which commences on May 20.

Teenager Lamine Yamal to sign new deal for Barcelona
Lamine Yamal is set to sign a new deal at Barcelona until 2026. Fabrizio Romano has said that the 15-year-old seems completely confident that the highly-rated teen will continue his career at Camp Nou. Yamal is considered the brightest jewel at La Masia and Barca are really keen to keep hold of him despite all their financial issues. Xavi has called up Yamal to his first-team squad recently, and as things stand the teenager will now stay with the senior side until the end of the current season.
The 15-year-old has proven to be a sensation in the club’s youth academy, even being selected to play for the club’s Under 19 side – making five appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season. According to Sport, Oscar Lopez the team’s youth coach is highly impressed with Yamal who has already played with the first team this month.
Barca’s current financial concerns have made them having to use their youth talent and they have started to develop rising stars. Meanwhile, Barca is looking to keep another star at the club as they look to extend Marcos Alonso’s contract – just four months after joining on a free transfer from Chelsea. Reports claim the former Blues wing-back will be offered a new two-year deal. Will Lamine Yamal be able to shine for the Blaugrana or he will be another flop just like Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati?
