Manchester City striker Erling Haaland stopped a fan from photographing him after noticing he was wearing a Manchester United shirt. The 22-year-old has completed his international responsibilities for the 2022/23 season with two matches, as Norway looks to reclaim their 2024 European Championship qualification spot.

Erling Haaland took an opportunity to thank fans after finishing the camp this week. These fans had gathered outside the international team’s training facility to await his arrival. Haaland, on the other hand, stopped one fan from snapping a photo after recognizing the club jersey he was wearing.

“Erling, can I take a picture?” a little fan wearing a Manchester United shirt asked the Manchester City striker. At first, the former Borussia Dortmund attacker appeared to agree, before looking down at the youngster’s Manchester United jersey and stopping the first snap before covering up the Old Trafford club’s insignia.

After covering the view of Manchester City’s fierce local rivals’ club symbol, Haaland said, “Wait… Take a picture now!” While walking away, Haaland is heard playfully cheekily asking the United fan to, “get yourself a new shirt.” Erling Haaland will now embark on his summer vacation for a few weeks of well-deserved leisure after a remarkable season.

When the towering Norwegian joined Manchester City, he informed Khaldoon Al Mubarak that he was going to win the Champions League for the club. Last summer, City fought off a number of major European teams, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, to sign Haaland from Dortmund. He has been a standout for City, scoring 52 goals in the last season.

City’s chairman greets all new arrivals but was caught aback by his chat with Haaland last summer when the then 21-year-old told him simply what he planned to achieve for the club. Twelve months later, the Norwegian has already followed through on his promise.

“He’s got something special, confidence with respect. And to be having that conversation post signing your contract with your chairman and saying at the end of that conversation, ‘Mr. Chairman, I’m going to win the Champions League for you. I’m here to win the Champions League for Manchester City and we’re going to win it” said Al-Mubarak.
