During yesterday’s match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs, Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t involved in the playing 11, didn’t start with the team, and was benched. A few minutes into the game, the stadium witnessed a loud chant of ‘viva Ronaldo’, as the fans saw the Portuguese star warming up.
The video went viral and so did the expectations of the fans, as they desperately wanted to see their favorite player on the field rather than resting on the bench. The chant in itself is a huge resemblance of what the player is capable of in terms of bringing a passion-full treatment to his fans.
Though the fans felt hard done after seeing CR7 on the bench for the whole match as he wasn’t subbed on by Eric Ten Hag and later witnessed the controversial walk-off of the star from the field which was considered disrespectful by many. No matter what, the fans are always in awe of the Portuguese star and continue to wait for the magic to happen.
Manchester United fans’ undying love for Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo made his Manchester return from Juventus last year and ever since has received an equal amount of love and hate depending on his performances. The fans however never failed to show their admiration for the star and have always supported him even in the tough times.
Since the start of the Premier League season 2022-23, as destined the club landed itself in the Europa League competition, and the Portuguese star hasn’t had a satisfactory amount of playing minutes on the field, most of the time benched and even while starting he has regularly been subbed off.
Since scoring a brace on the debut of his second spell at United and carrying the team on his shoulders last season, to a two-goal season till now, and no improvement on that basis whatsoever, the player has been in question around his wish to leave. Fans have an everlasting love for him, but the manager doesn’t seem to relate.
