Following recent criticism of him by his former teammate Wayne Rooney, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has retaliated by Manchester United fans. The Portugal star responded after Rooney criticized him for his actions this season in an interview with Piers Morgan.

One of the subjects that came up in the conversation was Rooney’s remarks. Four years after Rooney left the Premier League, Ronaldo quipped that his former teammate wasn’t pleased that he was still competing at the highest level.

“I don’t know why he criticizes me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level,”  Ronaldo continued,  “I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true…”

Last week, Rooney argued that Ronaldo’s actions this year were unacceptable in an interview with talkSPORT. He also said that former United captain Roy Keane, who has supported Ronaldo all season, would not have tolerated it if he had been a member of the team.
