The date of 13th May has been a historic day in the history of Manchester City’s calendar. Manchester United and Manchester City‘s last match was the deciding match of the Premier League title race. While the Red Devils locked horns with Sunderland, the Cityzen were getting ready to defeat Queens Park Rangers. The Red Devils could have only won the Premier League, given Manchester City failed to secure three points in their last match.
Manchester City took the early lead before halftime with the goal from Pablo Zabaleta. The lead only lasted till halftime, until Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie scored two brilliant goals to snatch the lead from the hosts. By 90 minutes, Manchester United was leading 2-0 and already started with the celebrations.
The game had more drama to come. It was in the added time, when Edin Dzeko took a brilliant header from a corner to equalise with the visitors. Manchester City returns to the game with bleak hope. The clock ticked 93:20, when Mario Balotelli passed a ball to Sergio Aguero, which he drove past Paddy Kenny. Martin Tyler screamed and hailed in the name of the Argentine footballer. Manchester City clinched the Premier League title after 44 years again in 2011/12.
The title Centurion was achieved on the same date of 13th May.
The date of 13th May is scribed in gold. Manchester City winning the title race after 44 years in a dramatic manner against Queens Park Rangers became the most important event on that day. But the date seems to be lucky for the Cityzen as they clinched several other important victories on the same date.
The title of Centurions is also a celebrated title by the Cityzens. The Mark Hughes-led team already secured the 2017/18 season. But the hunger for the Etihad side was now to secure the title of Centurions.
